The Bitter With the Sweet | Nichole & Mike

March 27, 2015
All Posts  ·  weddings

Nichole & Mike are an awesome couple. They have been together a long time, so when the proposal finally came around Nichole was beyond thrilled, and all their friends and family said, “Finally!”. We’ve been having fun with them for awhile now. It seems like ages ago we did their engagement photos in Busch Stadium, where they both work during the season (in addition to their day jobs). And now for their winter wedding. It is always surprising to me that we have winter weddings here in St. Louis because it can be so COLD, but hey, we get to be in coats and gloves. It’s those poor bridesmaids in their dresses that freeze, but I digress…. 🙂 Winter weddings are lovely, and such a change from your normal spring-fall look. And, hey, you’re not sweating like you are in July!

As we normally do, we had talked about the photo locations and made the plan for the day ahead of time, when the week of the wedding Nichole messaged us to let us know her grandpa had been admitted to SLU Hospital and wouldn’t be able to attend the wedding. She wanted to know if we could stop by, so they could get some photos with him. We told her of course – nothing is more important than family, especially on the wedding day. A few days later she let us know he passed away and wanted to get those photos from the hospital. It’s moments like those that punch us in the gut and help us remember that what we do is important. We have both lost grandparents and know how heartbreaking it is. We are so honored that we got to capture some special moments for the family that they will treasure forever.

Nichole and Mike, we love you guys. We are so happy for you starting something new, even in the midst of loosing someone you love. Blessings to you both.
