The Golf Course Wedding of John and Kelsey by St. Louis Wedding Photographers, Joel & Shannon Conner

Kelsey and John tied the knot out on the greens, on a beautiful June Saturday. In fact it was such a beautiful day that there were a number of golfers out on the range practicing their swings, but more on that later…

Since Kelsey and John had decided to have both their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Landings at Spirit Golf CourseΒ they opted to have a first look and do photos ahead of time. In the last several years the trend has really swung back toward the bride and groom not seeing each other before the ceremony, so we don’t do very many first looks, but they can be amazing. For one, if you know you are going to be limited on time between the ceremony and reception – or like Kelsey and John, simply want to be able to move straight from one to the other – the first look is a great option to de-stress your day and still allow you to get the photos you want. Secondly, it can be such a wonderful intimate moment between you and your almost-spouse. We rarely try to swing couples one way or the other because ultimately it’s up to you, but if you are considering a first look, just know it can be amazing.

Back to the couple this all about though πŸ™‚ When John saw Kelsey for the first time it a beautiful moment where he actually took her into his arms and kissed her while dipping her…so romantic! We had a relaxing time driving around in golf carts as we did photos, all except for the stray golf ball that literally flew right between the heads of 2 of the bridesmaids as we were doing a photo! Yeah, we decided we were too close to the driving range at that point and moved! πŸ™‚ The reception was held inside the club, which Kelsey had designed to be decorated with cute blue and yellow touches, to match the theme of the wedding. The place cards were handmade and hung inside open frames, painted blue, and her mom hand made the exquisite programs and invitations. All in all it was a lovely night, ending with some awesome dancing on the patio where “Chuck” the family lamp (don’t ask! πŸ˜‰ ) made an appearance to much laughter.

Congratulations John and Kelsey – we wish you as much joy as you had on your wedding every day of your life!

~Shannon
